Covid-19 in Occitania: 63 deaths in three days, decline in hospital admissions and resuscitation

The basics The Covid-19 has killed 63 new patients in Occitania since Tuesday. The number of people hospitalized and in intensive care has decreased since the beginning of the week.

According to the ARS Occitanie, 63 more people died of Covid-19 in Occitanie between Tuesday April 27 and Friday April 30. 142 people died over a whole week. The pandemic has killed a total of 4,182 people in the region.

In detail, there were 2 additional deaths in Ariège, 6 in Aude, 4 in Aveyron, 10 in Gard, 8 in Haute-Garonne, 1 in Gers, 14 in Hérault, 1 in Lot, 2 in Hautes-Pyrénées, 7 in Tarn and 3 in the Tarn-et-Garonne. There were no other deaths in Lozère.

1,790 patients are hospitalized (-73 in three days), including 378 people in the intensive care unit (-18 in three days).

An average of 1531 positive cases are found per day. Between April 23 and April 29, a total of 10,720 positive cases were reported to Medicare. The test positivity rate is 8.5%.

More than 2 million doses of vaccine have been given in Occitania, including more than 1.5 million first-time injections. The vaccination campaign protected 31.8% of the population over the age of 18 from Covid-19, 34% of those aged 50 to 64 and 72.5% of those over 65.
