Occitanie: 68 Covid deaths in four days while more than 1.7 million residents received at least one dose of vaccine

Most 68 people died of Covid-19 for four days in Occitanie this Tuesday evening, according to the ARS. Hospital stays and resuscitation are declining slightly in our region.

Covid-19 is the cause of 68 new deaths in Occitanie between Friday April 16 and Tuesday April 20, data of the last two messages from ARS Occitanie. In total, the Covid-19 has killed 3,988 people in the region since its inception.

In detail there was 1 additional death in Ariège, 4 in Aude, 2 in Aveyron, 7 in Gard, 7 in Haute-Garonne, 1 in Gers, 30 in Hérault, 1 in the Hautes-Pyrénées, 4 in the Pyrénées-Orientales, 6 in the Tarn and 5 in the Tarn-et-Garonne. There were no deaths in Lot and Lozère.

In Occitania, 1,868 patients were hospitalized this Tuesday evening (-3 in four days), including 403 people in the intensive care unit (-7 in four days). In Hérault, Haute-Garonne and Gard, of course, most people are in intensive care.

An average of 1916 positive cases per day

In Occitania, an average of 1,916 new positive cases are detected each day. Between April 13 and 19, 2021, 13,414 new cases were reported to the health insurance teams.

Over 1.7 million vaccines

At the same time, the vaccination campaign will continue in the region. More than 1.7 million doses of vaccine have been administered in Occitania. 26.6% of the population over 18 in the region are vaccinated, 54% of those aged 65 to 74, 78% of those over 75 and 99% of residents of nursing homes and long-term care units.
