Pyrénées-Atlantiques: 7-year-old child killed in car accident, 4 seriously injured

A 7-year-old child was killed on Wednesday in a violent traffic accident in Préchacq-Josbaig near Oloron-Sainte-Marie (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), in which four other victims were seriously injured, say the fire department pioneers.

At around 5:30 p.m., two cars collided head-on on a one-way street in southern Béarn. “The shock was severe,” said a source from the fire and rescue service of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department.

The 7-year-old child, who had cardiovascular arrest when the emergency services arrived, died on the spot. He was in one of the cars with a 30-year-old woman 8 months pregnant and a 15-month-old baby. The two victims were evacuated to the Pau Hospital Center in “serious condition”.

The occupants of the second car, a 67 and 68 year old man and a woman, were also seriously injured and taken to hospitals

Bayonne and Tarbes A gendarmerie investigation has been launched to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
